"A production company provides the physical basis for works in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video.
Tasks of the production company include: - Budgeting, scheduling, scripting, suplply with talent and resources, the organisation of staff, the production itself, post-production, distribution, marketing. The production company may be responsible for fundraising for the production, or this may be accomplished through a parent company, partner, or private investor.
Production companies are often either owned or under contraact with a media conglomerate, fim studio, entertainment company, or Motion Picture Company, who act as the production company's partner or parent company. This has become known as the "studio system". They can also be mainstream independent or completely independent."

The two types of film production company and the films they make:
Independent: - Associated with 'indie' films. Tends have a low budget and uses unknown actors and directors.
Mainstream: - Big budget Hollywood movies, well-know actors and directors. Basically the opposite of independent.

As you can see there is an abundance of film production companies, it seems as if anyone with enough money is investing in one film or another. My film is a rom-com, and although most rom-coms are produced by mainstream production companies (The Boat that Rocked, Notting Hill, Love Actually - Universal), my production company will be indie as I don't have the budget to produce a mainstream quality trailer.
Examples of production company logos (In film):
These are all quite complex (which will be too difficult for me to do), so I will use these for inspiration with my simpler logo.
